Lets get Away: California

California
We've been on the run
Driving in the sun
Looking out for #1
California here we come
Right back where we started from
Hustlers grab your guns
Your shadow weighs a ton
Driving down the 101
California here we come
Right back where we started from
On the stereo Listen as we go

 Nothing's gonna stop me now
California here we come
Right back where we started from
Pedal to the floor
Thinkin' of the roar
Gotta get us to the shore
California here we come
Right back where we started from.

Restuarant: Italian Touch

To start off this restaurant entry I thought I would talk about some Italian history:

My Boyfriend Kaden Prete is a 5th generation Canadian Italian. His Great Great  Grand father came to North America with his wife Carmela Miraglia from Trivingo, Potenzo, Italy somewhere in the late 1800's.
I often tease Kaden and tell his that they were kicked out of Italy because their last name was "Prete" meaning "'priest’, derived from Old Italian previte, a nickname for a pious man or for someone in the service of a priest, or for someone suspected of being the son of a priest".
But in actuality his great Grad father and Great Grandmother probably just wanted to start a new life in a new country rich with possibility. I had tracked the Pretes in Trivingo back into the early 1600's, so to say the least, maybe it was time for a change. I would almost guaranty that Kaden has distant relatives in Trivingo, for a name that has been in a town for hundreds of years does not just disappear.
I was once sitting in a hair salon getting my hair done, and Kaden was waiting in the waiting area, when I noticed a man sit next to him and start up a conversation.  They talked for a long time and apparently about many things. Kaden told me that the man had asked him about his background (Kaden looks very Italian),  and had then asked him about his girlfriends background (me).  Kaden told him that he was Italian and that I was French. "Ahhhh" said the man, "Italian Men and French woman and destined lovers". I thought about this for a long time, trying to figure out the connection. I think I finally understand. French and Italian cultures are both romantic. They symbolize beauty, simplicity, taste, scent, and adoration. J'adore this connection.

Now to the Restaurant We Go!
With all of our connections to Italy, we love and adore Italian food! When we walked up to the Front of The Italian Touch, I noticed how simple and elegant it looks. We asked for a seat on the patio and the host very graciously allowed us to sit in a  reserved seat! We got prime seating without reservations! We never do reservation though.
Drinks: We ordered two Caesars and they were the best Caesars that we had ever had at a restaurant! They were served in tall swervy glasses and were served with celery instead of a spicy bean which is the BEST WAY! Also they were icy cold! non of this luke warm on ice business that you get at so many other restaurants.
Food:
They brought us fresh focaccia bread with balsamic vinegar and olive oil dip, it was a very addition to our drinks and start to our Italian experience.
I ordered the  Fisherman's Boat Linguine, which is made "With fresh mussels, clams, shrimps, salmon, diced tomatoes, pesto, garlic and white wine. $18.95".
The seafood was cooked very nicely and the sauce was not over powering so as to allow the natural flavors of the seafood to be tasted.
Kaden ordered  Spaghetti Marco Pollo which is made "With bacon, artichokes, sun-dried tomatoes in a pesto cream sauce. $15.9".
Kaden added chicken ;) The sun-dried tomatoes and artichokes made this dish very very flavorful, it was festive tasting as though it was whipped up from the harvest on a Italian farm.

Restaurant Goal

This summer My boyfriend and I are going to try and go to every restaurant we have not been to on White Rock beach. We are very prone to going to our favorite restaurants over and over again, so this will be a new, fun, and exciting experience! Early this spring we drove down Marine drive and noticed that there are SO many new restaurants that we have not been to. We had to double back twice just to take in some of the new names and restaurant fronts. This weekend my boyfriend -who is an Electrician up North- was home! So we decided that we would start our goal on Saturday night! THE WEATHER WAS BEAUTIFUL! Especially for a British Columbian May evening.
Now it must be said. My boyfriend and I are Ninjas when it comes to finding parking on White Rock beach. Ninjas! We always find great parking even if its packed! Perhaps it has something to do with basically living down there every summer? Maybe.

I dressed in a Pomegranate Pink Spanish style Sun dress from Rip Curl, a kit shrug, jeweled sandals, a straw Oneal fedora, and my ray bans. I considered wearing makeup, but decided that a sweep of toner was a fresher idea!
Boyfriend wore, Obey gray jeans, a teal American Apparel V-Neck T shirt, tanned Nautica shoes, a Vintage style Canucks hat, Galvanized gray/black Ray Bans, and a black Armani Watch. We looked very nice and summery. One doesn't want to look to fussy when walking the beach front.

We walked past all of the restaurants and came to the very end where a nice big Italian Restaurant sits. Right then and there we added a new rule to our goal  We must start at the beginning of the restaurant line up and work our way to the other side! Going from the beginning of West Beach to the end of West Beach! This way we know exactly where to go next! We also added another foot note... that we would only mention in quick voices at the end of our hypothetical commercial, and only write in 9 point font at the bottom of our hypothetical contract. We wont go to restaurants that we have been to before

So this is the concept of our goal!  I will take pictures and write a blog entry about every restaurant we go to! I will also write about what we wore!
My next blog entry will be about the Italian Touch, the big Italian Beach front restaurant that we went to last night!

Work Outfit 1

"A woman does not have to dress like a man to be successful and respected in the work place"

Work Outfits- Dress Sharp!

Go Classic! Nothings wrong with something that has always been right.
  • Tommy Hilfiger white dress shirt (they breath and are great quality)
  • Tommy Hilfiger Grey Pencil Skirt

NO it is not too short for work!
Here is the rule of thumb when it comes to Wo Appro Skirts!
  • Length: Stand like a board with your arms by your sides and your fingers extended. Is the skirt at or bellow your finger tips? If so then it is Wo Appro!
  • Leg Fit: Stand straight as a board and move your hits slowey from side to side with out moving your feet. Does your skirt act as a bell? Hitting one side and then the other side of your legs? Work Appro skirts should be able to move from side to side, not be tight against your legs.
