Paleo Friendly Heart Healthy Bullet Proof Coffee/Mocha

Apparently Salt, Butter, and Coffee can make you brain work better and enhance your health! Check out the links bellow!

Bullet Proof Coffee:

The Facts behind adding 100% G/F Butter:
https://www.bulletproofexec.com/butter-is-better-for-your-brain-and-now-your-heart/

Here is the recipe for a Bullet Proof All Organic, Fair Trade, raw coca mocha.
Makes 1 cup
Brew 1 cup of Bullet Proof Coffee (specialty beans that can be ordered online)
1 Tbsp Raw organic cocoa (can be ordered online,  or bought in health food stores)
1 tsp Coconut oil (I buy mine at Trader Joes, but you can basically buy it everywhere now)
1 tsp 100% grass feed butter (Trader Joes, any specialty grocery store)
Mix it all together... it has a very smoothy chocolaty flavor. You would never guess its good for you.

Paleo Diet

My boyfriend is the smartest and most determined person I know. When he chooses to do something, he first researches it to its core and then does it full out, without any excuses.
That is why I fully trust his opinion when it comes to Paleo.
About 6 months ago he started the Paleo diet, which most of you have probably stumbled upon at some point. If not, I recommend you google it. It is not so much a diet as a clean and healthy way of living. The best part about it is that the recipes are soooooo good! My boyfriend creates amazing healthy dishes nightly that are clean (no growth hormones, no antibiotic enjected meats, and most importantly 100% grass fed meats and dairy products) and healthy (no artificial sugar, no glutin, no chemicals, no processed foods). Fact: when meat says "grass fed" that just means the animal was fed grass for a few months at the end of its life. Make sure it says "100% grass Fed". You can find butter that is from 100% grass fed cows as well!
More info and recipes to come :)
Below is a Paleo roasted chicken and Veggies that my boy made. wait until I get you the recipe for his "Paleo lean %100 grass fed burger on lettuce (sans bread) with freshly made chutney"... So good... Best chutney I've ever had.
Keeper? I think so.

Unfortunately I'm the kinda girl that likes to partake in the occasional McDonald's burger eating contest... but I think I see the light...

God knows I love classic, ivy league style, which is why this Classic Ralph Lauren Polo is on my hit list. "White Ts, Nikes, gangsta don't know how to act"

My Favorite Things: Perfume

Oprah does it so why cant I?!  I will be posting a few of my favorite things (perfume, products, clothing, recipes, ect.), that I recommend to you!

Here is my flowery, musky, and sweet perfumed journey to finding perfume love.

My perfume beginnings...

My love of perfume started very early. When my Mom and Dad would go out for an evening, my mom would put on perfume, and my Dad would put on cologne. Both smelt wonderful and exciting to me! In my mind this final touch transformed my Mom and Dad into two characters from old time movies. I half expected a grand old model A to pick them up out front, and take them to a hopping dance hall or restaurant equipped with a big band.

Oscar Dela Renta. Oscar Dela Renta. Oscar Dela Renta.
To be specific, Oscar by Oscar Dela Renta. My grandmother always smells wonderful. And I always tell her so. So one day I asked her, "what perfume do you wear?" to which she replied these rolling words "Oscar by Oscar Dela Renta".  I said the words over and over in my mind, How could someone come up with such a glorious luscious name! To this day, whenever I go into the exquisitely designed and decorated powder room at my grandparents home, I sneak a smell of the beautiful Oscar Dela Renta perfume bottle that is respectfully and elegantly displayed on a glass and silvery tray.

My first perfume...

Sunflower by Elizabeth Arden
My sister who was a lover of cosmetics in high-school, gave me a container full of  tiny, small and large perfume bottles. How exciting for a 11 year old! I uncorked, sprayed, rolled, and sniffed every single one, until I found one that suited my 11 year old self best. Sunflower by Elizabeth Arden. It was sweet, musky, and strong. And to me it was glorious! I just googled it, and funny enough they still make it! Sadly, like a sunflower, my love of this perfume died and dried up with the passing seasons.

Pleasure by Este Lauder
My next significant scent came to me when I was 14. Pleasure by Este Lauder. The beautiful long glass bottle first belonged to my Mother, but she said that it was too florally for her."Its a summer perfume" she told me, "Its important not to wear to much, just enough on your wrists and neck". This is a rule that I forgot later in life, and re-learnt quickly at 19, when a mean boy said my perfume was strong! What an ass hole. I mean he was right, I was wearing a ridiculous amount, but still, he's an ass hole. Anyways! Back to Pleasure by Este Lauder... In grade 9 I was tiny and very shy. One day I entered Foods class and sat at my designated table, it just so happens that the cutest guy in my grade sat at this table to. I never talked to him. Too shy. Well on this day I happen to have sprayed on a little Pleasure by Este Lauder. I sat at the table and turned my chair outwards, in order to listen to the teacher. The boy was sitting behind me and leaned forward. He said in a soft voice "you smell really good today". Well! Isn't that just enough to melt the heart of ANY 14 year old girl! I have now had lots of nice things said to me by boys, but that was the first, and I think i'll always remember it. As for the perfume? It wasn't long lasting love.

Hot by Ralph Lauren
At 16 I had my self a boyfriend! It was our first Christmas together! It so exciting, it would be the first time a boyfriend gave me a present! It was in a square box, and when I opened it I was instantly intrigued by its dark purple bottle and turquoise lid! When I smelt it, I was in heaven. A soft, sweet, tropical, fruity heaven. It was the first bottle of perfume that I emptied. It was love. True love. Every time I wore it, my friends would lean in and go 'mmmm you smell good!". But who cares about them. I thought it smelt good. Up until very recently I was under the impression that Ralph Lauren no longer made Hot, for when I went looking for it as a teen, I couldn't find it anywhere! But now that I am one with Internet shopping, I have found out that you can buy it online!  Because I am now a little more aware of the connections between seasons and scents, I have decided to reunite with Hot, and make it into my Summer Time perfume! It truly a soft and sweet blend that I would recommend to anyone wanting a laid back yummy, tropical scent. It was love. Real love.

Fantasy by Britney Spears
A fragrance fling that I sometimes look back on with fond memories...
Ill keep this brief. Britney Spears Fantasy. My boyfriend bought it for me. I thought it was perfume love. I basically bathed in it I wore so much. I ended up losing the bottle. I think I would buy it again.. but its almost sickeningly sweet... like melted candy... but still, if I found a bottle cheap enough, I think I would return to my fling with Miss B-Spears. But only on occasion... It is NOT a day to day scent... the timing would have to be perfect when executing this scent. As you can see.. mixed feelings. I will say this... Boys do not like it. But who cares what they think. Wear a perfume because you like it. Seriously! And don't give a rats flying ass when any boy or girl says they don't like your perfume! Tell them to fuck rigghhhhttttt off.

This leads us to my current 22 year old self. What perfume/s does this university student love and use daily?

Wakely by Abercrombie and Fitch

Abercrombie describes it as  "both confident and flirty, and always leaves something to the imagination. Intriguing jasmine combines with warm honey suckle for a mysterious, sensual scent. Notes of whipped vanilla are soft and sweet while clean citrus refreshes the senses."

and....

8 by Abercrombie and Fitch

Abercrombie describes it as "Provocative and sexy, Perfume 8's spicy, invigorating floral scent is always exciting. Ginger and rich peach nectar combine with subtle hints of jasmine petal for a naturally pretty fragrance that is warm, inviting and perfect for day or night."

My boyfriend bought me Abercrombie's Wakely perfume last Christmas. I had asked for Abercormbie 8 perfume but he said the sales lady talked him into this one. Now, it must be said that I loved it! And loved him for being gutsy enough to go a different rout then the one I set out, but there was a little part of me that longed and wondered about Abercrombie 8. Was 8 a nicer smell? would I have liked 8 better? Oh the Drama!!! Well, My boyfriend's mother overheard me whining and ever so kindly allowed me to smell her bottle of 8 to see if I liked it better. It was glorious! dark and fierce, yet sharp  and classic! I had to exclaim with sadness that I adored them both! I hate making decisions. Being the saint that she is, she handed me her 1/4 full bottle of 8 and said that I could keep it! I couldn't believe my luck! I now had both Wakely and 8!

This Christmas my boyfriend gave me a new bottle of 8. I love these two perfumes. They suit my style, personality, and general mood.
Choose Wakely if you want something fun and flirty but mature.
Choose 8 if you are looking for something timeless and subtlety sexy.

Smile, it will make others wonder what you are up to

That smile or 'hi' may just be worth everything.

Baby Boy Shower

Baby Boy Shower: Put out bowls of tasty candy (blue wales, chocolate covered gummy bears, ect.), use classic blue streamers and balloons, and keep the games to a minimum (trust me).
Egg Nest Cookies: Use Jelly beans or Mini Eggs.
http://www.chef-in-training.com/2012/04/no-bake-chocolate-egg-nest-cookies/

Simple Pan cake decorated with a lamb

With clothes pins and string, hang blue new born clothes in the window.

Simple sugar cookies cut into baby shapes: Find cookie cutters at cooking boutiques, or free hand it.
rattles, bottles, carriages

Mini Cup Ckaes. This is not fondont! It is normal icing, squiggler drawing gel (for mouth and eyes), and Rockets Candy for the soother!

Dress up a plain sign. We pasted the letter of the sign on two different colors of blue paper, and then used mini clothes pins to hang them on a string.

Leave a comment, link to your blog, or an idea for a baby boy shower!

An Unexpected Question.. for you!

Last night  I went to the midnight premier of the Hobbit. Which in result has reunited me with my Lord of the Rings obsession. My boyfriend moved away to a different province today... so naturally I baked 4 batches of cookies and am currently watching The Fellowship of the Ring.
I just texted my boyfriend, what I believe to be, an excellent question...
"Would you rather be a hobbit, elf, dwarf, human of Rohan, Human of Gondor, a grey wizard, a white wizard, or an orc?"
What would you choose to be? and why? :)

Originally I thought I would want to be an elf: beautiful, calm, elegant. reading, thinking, and being wise. Living in the ever so peaceful Rivendale.
but.... then I thought... how boring! I want to be a hobbit!

Lets get Away: California

California
We've been on the run
Driving in the sun
Looking out for #1
California here we come
Right back where we started from
Hustlers grab your guns
Your shadow weighs a ton
Driving down the 101
California here we come
Right back where we started from
On the stereo Listen as we go

 Nothing's gonna stop me now
California here we come
Right back where we started from
Pedal to the floor
Thinkin' of the roar
Gotta get us to the shore
California here we come
Right back where we started from.

Restuarant: Italian Touch

To start off this restaurant entry I thought I would talk about some Italian history:

My Boyfriend Kaden Prete is a 5th generation Canadian Italian. His Great Great  Grand father came to North America with his wife Carmela Miraglia from Trivingo, Potenzo, Italy somewhere in the late 1800's.
I often tease Kaden and tell his that they were kicked out of Italy because their last name was "Prete" meaning "'priest’, derived from Old Italian previte, a nickname for a pious man or for someone in the service of a priest, or for someone suspected of being the son of a priest".
But in actuality his great Grad father and Great Grandmother probably just wanted to start a new life in a new country rich with possibility. I had tracked the Pretes in Trivingo back into the early 1600's, so to say the least, maybe it was time for a change. I would almost guaranty that Kaden has distant relatives in Trivingo, for a name that has been in a town for hundreds of years does not just disappear.
I was once sitting in a hair salon getting my hair done, and Kaden was waiting in the waiting area, when I noticed a man sit next to him and start up a conversation.  They talked for a long time and apparently about many things. Kaden told me that the man had asked him about his background (Kaden looks very Italian),  and had then asked him about his girlfriends background (me).  Kaden told him that he was Italian and that I was French. "Ahhhh" said the man, "Italian Men and French woman and destined lovers". I thought about this for a long time, trying to figure out the connection. I think I finally understand. French and Italian cultures are both romantic. They symbolize beauty, simplicity, taste, scent, and adoration. J'adore this connection.

Now to the Restaurant We Go!
With all of our connections to Italy, we love and adore Italian food! When we walked up to the Front of The Italian Touch, I noticed how simple and elegant it looks. We asked for a seat on the patio and the host very graciously allowed us to sit in a  reserved seat! We got prime seating without reservations! We never do reservation though.
Drinks: We ordered two Caesars and they were the best Caesars that we had ever had at a restaurant! They were served in tall swervy glasses and were served with celery instead of a spicy bean which is the BEST WAY! Also they were icy cold! non of this luke warm on ice business that you get at so many other restaurants.
Food:
They brought us fresh focaccia bread with balsamic vinegar and olive oil dip, it was a very addition to our drinks and start to our Italian experience.
I ordered the  Fisherman's Boat Linguine, which is made "With fresh mussels, clams, shrimps, salmon, diced tomatoes, pesto, garlic and white wine. $18.95".
The seafood was cooked very nicely and the sauce was not over powering so as to allow the natural flavors of the seafood to be tasted.
Kaden ordered  Spaghetti Marco Pollo which is made "With bacon, artichokes, sun-dried tomatoes in a pesto cream sauce. $15.9".
Kaden added chicken ;) The sun-dried tomatoes and artichokes made this dish very very flavorful, it was festive tasting as though it was whipped up from the harvest on a Italian farm.

Restaurant Goal

This summer My boyfriend and I are going to try and go to every restaurant we have not been to on White Rock beach. We are very prone to going to our favorite restaurants over and over again, so this will be a new, fun, and exciting experience! Early this spring we drove down Marine drive and noticed that there are SO many new restaurants that we have not been to. We had to double back twice just to take in some of the new names and restaurant fronts. This weekend my boyfriend -who is an Electrician up North- was home! So we decided that we would start our goal on Saturday night! THE WEATHER WAS BEAUTIFUL! Especially for a British Columbian May evening.
Now it must be said. My boyfriend and I are Ninjas when it comes to finding parking on White Rock beach. Ninjas! We always find great parking even if its packed! Perhaps it has something to do with basically living down there every summer? Maybe.

I dressed in a Pomegranate Pink Spanish style Sun dress from Rip Curl, a kit shrug, jeweled sandals, a straw Oneal fedora, and my ray bans. I considered wearing makeup, but decided that a sweep of toner was a fresher idea!
Boyfriend wore, Obey gray jeans, a teal American Apparel V-Neck T shirt, tanned Nautica shoes, a Vintage style Canucks hat, Galvanized gray/black Ray Bans, and a black Armani Watch. We looked very nice and summery. One doesn't want to look to fussy when walking the beach front.

We walked past all of the restaurants and came to the very end where a nice big Italian Restaurant sits. Right then and there we added a new rule to our goal  We must start at the beginning of the restaurant line up and work our way to the other side! Going from the beginning of West Beach to the end of West Beach! This way we know exactly where to go next! We also added another foot note... that we would only mention in quick voices at the end of our hypothetical commercial, and only write in 9 point font at the bottom of our hypothetical contract. We wont go to restaurants that we have been to before

So this is the concept of our goal!  I will take pictures and write a blog entry about every restaurant we go to! I will also write about what we wore!
My next blog entry will be about the Italian Touch, the big Italian Beach front restaurant that we went to last night!

NO it is not too short for work!
Here is the rule of thumb when it comes to Wo Appro Skirts!
  • Length: Stand like a board with your arms by your sides and your fingers extended. Is the skirt at or bellow your finger tips? If so then it is Wo Appro!
  • Leg Fit: Stand straight as a board and move your hits slowey from side to side with out moving your feet. Does your skirt act as a bell? Hitting one side and then the other side of your legs? Work Appro skirts should be able to move from side to side, not be tight against your legs.
